Dolch and Fry Sight Words List for 3rd Grade<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sight words have always been a crucial part of English language learning, but it was only after Dr Edward William Dolch published his journal article in 1936 that we started learning these words under the heading \u201cSight Words\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sight words are the words that we come across quite frequently in text and speech. These words are often irregular in terms of how they are pronounced. Dolch Sight Words for 3rd Grade<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dr Dolch found the most frequently used words in the then children books and published a list of such words in a journal article in 1936. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later on, he published these words in his book \u201cProblems of Reading\u201d in 1948. He has given a sight words list for each of the grades starting from Pre Kindergarten to Third Grade. He is also regarded as the father of Sight Words. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sentences using Dolch Sight Words up to 3rd Grade<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

One can create simple to complex sentences using 3rd-grade sight words. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Fry 3rd Grade Sight Words<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Edmund Fry found the most common words in the books of Grades 3 to 9. He came up with such 1000 words and these words cover almost 90% of the words that kids come across during their formative years of learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He provided an extended list of sight words and updated it in the year 1980. He divided these 1000 words into 10 groups of 100 sight words each – the first set has the first hundred sight words i.e. 1 to 100, the second has 101 to 200, the third set has 201 to 300, so on and so forth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The words in Fry\u2019s list have been divided into groups of 100 on the basis of the frequency with which they appear in texts and speech. So, the first set of words is more common than the words that appear in the next set of words. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
